Kauwaka te Ipurangi 2025 | National Hui

Kauwaka te Ipurangi 2025

22 May 2025

The inaugural Kauwaka te Ipurangi — a national hui for Māori working in Internet and digital spaces — was held in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, on 13–14 May 2025.

Hosted by Te Komiti Whakauru Māori and proudly supported by InternetNZ, this landmark two-day event brought together Māori from across Aotearoa to connect, share mātauranga (knowledge), and kōrero about the issues shaping our digital future.

The kaupapa included rich discussions on online safety, data sovereignty, intellectual property in a digital context, the Māori spectrum, and building sustainable Māori digital businesses. Attendees heard from a range of Māori and non-Māori experts, and explored how Māori can influence Internet governance — locally, nationally, and globally.

We are honoured to have supported this amazing kaupapa and look forward to seeing how it might take flight in years to come.
